LEED SEMINAR

“Light Pollution Reduction &
Natural Nighttime Illumination”
By: Dr. Fernando Abruña, FAIA
The presenter will introduce the concept of utilizing natural nighttime illumination as it relates to LEED 2.2 Sustainable Sites Credit 8: Light Pollution Reduction. The seminar will cover fundamental design strategies and appropriate luminaries selection. The myths of darkness versus security will be discussed, as well as environmental and financial costs of excessive illumination. A sample project addressing these issues will be presented.
